Plays
I spent a lot of money and time to get a degree in drama...and here's what I have to show for it, at least in playwrighting form. Please note: if you, for some reason beyond my understanding, want to perform these plays, tell me cause...well, it's mine! I want you to do it, and if it's within reach I'd even come to see what you've done. I'll try to get more one acts and such up here as they come along.

| Contents... | The Newest Bar in Town (57.2 KB) | OLD OLD OLD, found on the same disk as the newold poems (to be seen on the poetry page) it was the first attempt to write down an idea that keeps coming back to haunt me...aka. I'm Not Fireproof, aka. In Cawthra Park. |
Walk Through Those Doors (9.2 KB) | FIRST DRAFT of a short play inspired from an even shorter passing reference to two young mormon teenagers afraid of entering a meeting. 2m, Brent and Seth are waiting outside the doors of Knox Presbyterian Church. They debate whether they should go in to the meeting they had agreed to attend. Seth wants more than anything to just walk through the doors, but Brent is apprehensive because a member of their congregation is inside and may inform his parents about their attendance. Soon we understand just what kind of meeting is taking place behind the doors. |
Nightwalks (48.9 KB) | My first completed (if they can ever be) play, performed in 2000 at University of Guelph. 3m/1f, a series of scenes telling the story of one day in the lives of four friends. Nic is a frustrated musician unable to perform in public, philosophical and always seeking solutions. His best friend, Panther, is a furry who has decided it's time to let the world know. Shery is an intelligent woman with a ditsy nature who would love to further a relationship with Panther. Doug has not arrived at the mall yet to plan the evenings activities. Yet, he is always there, interacting and observing, recalling memories of the growth of their friendship, and harbouring a secret that may bring the other three closer together by the end of the day. Nightwalks was written under the watchful eye of Judith Thompson. |
